New School!

Today is Grayson's first day at his new school!

I am very excited for him and nervous at the same time.

I am excited as it has been 10 weeks of him being out of school while we have been jumping around from temporary rental to temporary rental so not only has he been missing out on school time he has also been missing out on ALL of his therapies! For those SN, ASD parents out there, you know how important the therapies are and 10 weeks is a long time!

He has been doing quite well though despite being out of school and has made so good leaps and bounds but I know getting back to school is what is going to be best for him!

Grayson loved his old school back in NC. It was very small school for children with ASD and Developmental Delays and he only went a 1/2 day but he loved it and did SO well there and I adored all of his teachers and therapists they were amazing which leads to why I am also a little nervous as well....

...I am nervous because this new school is ALL new teachers and therapist and it is also a FULL day program so I am a bit nervous on how he is going to do with the hours and with all the new faces but I am full confidence in this school as upon moving here I did tons and tons of research on just about every area up this way and called every school that had full day programs and were in areas that I would like to live and I always came back to the school he is in now... I just loved how the director made me feel and immediately took interest in Grayson and kept following up... other schools had about 2 words to say to me and it just didn't feel "right"...so I wanted this school which meant I had to find a house in that school district because you have to live in the district of the school for your child to attend that school...and that is what took the 10 weeks.....and I fought hard for the house we have now and I am SO happy I did and so happy it all worked out and I am excited (and still nervous) on what this new school year will bring!

Thankfully, Grayson's first day is also moving day for me so I will be busy with the movers and unpacking..but still...wish me luck!

Here is a photo of Grayson's new backpack I had made for his new school :)

Video of Grayson "Talking"

As promised.... here is a video of Grayson "talking" back and forth with me.

I have been trying to get a video of him up and walking around but he is just so excited and busy that its hard to get the video so as I was holding him to get him down for a nap I started to "talk" to him and he started to talk back so I reached for my phone quickly and was able to catch a little clip so everyone who follows Grayson on here can see what I am talking about when I try to explain the way he has been more verbal lately:

I am absolutely loving these conversations with my little man lately...it is so awesome and hopefully a door to building on words!

Climb Away!

Annnnnd we're off!

Grayson has started climbing on furniture!

I know for some parents this can be a headache, but for me...I am OVERJOYED!

He can climb on anything he wants to at this point as far as I'm concerned.

Now, for him to really want to climb we have to give him incentive = putting iPad on top of the couch and boy does it work. He pops up there so quickly like he has been doing it for a year!

He has been out of school and therapies for awhile now but this just goes to show that his PT skills are still progressing!

I took a little video for everyone to see:

I am so excited to have had two big breakthroughs in 2 days! This little boy is on a roll!

Keep it up Gray!

"Ah, Oh, Eh"

Just had a pretty big breakthrough with Grayson!

As most of you know Grayson is non-verbal and gets Speech Therapy (along with several other therapies) and anytime he makes noises.."Ah, Oh, Eh".. We should try to encourage it by doing the nose back and see if he will play a sort of mimicking game...Welll we have been running errands and Grayson made the "Ah" sound so I, per usual, said "Ah" back and turned around and smiled at him and turned back around not thinking anything...Welllll he did it again, so I did it again repeating the same pattern of making the noise and smoking back at him... This time he smiled SO big and let out a laugh and much to my surprise this back and forth mimick went on for about 10 minutes straight of him making "Ah, Oh, Eh, Om" and smiling and laughing with it all!

This is HUGE for Grayson and I couldn't be more excited and proud of him!

I will try to get a video at some point over the new few days :)
