I am very excited for him and nervous at the same time.
I am excited as it has been 10 weeks of him being out of school while we have been jumping around from temporary rental to temporary rental so not only has he been missing out on school time he has also been missing out on ALL of his therapies! For those SN, ASD parents out there, you know how important the therapies are and 10 weeks is a long time!
He has been doing quite well though despite being out of school and has made so good leaps and bounds but I know getting back to school is what is going to be best for him!
Grayson loved his old school back in NC. It was very small school for children with ASD and Developmental Delays and he only went a 1/2 day but he loved it and did SO well there and I adored all of his teachers and therapists they were amazing which leads to why I am also a little nervous as well....
...I am nervous because this new school is ALL new teachers and therapist and it is also a FULL day program so I am a bit nervous on how he is going to do with the hours and with all the new faces but I am full confidence in this school as upon moving here I did tons and tons of research on just about every area up this way and called every school that had full day programs and were in areas that I would like to live and I always came back to the school he is in now... I just loved how the director made me feel and immediately took interest in Grayson and kept following up... other schools had about 2 words to say to me and it just didn't feel "right"...so I wanted this school which meant I had to find a house in that school district because you have to live in the district of the school for your child to attend that school...and that is what took the 10 weeks.....and I fought hard for the house we have now and I am SO happy I did and so happy it all worked out and I am excited (and still nervous) on what this new school year will bring!
Thankfully, Grayson's first day is also moving day for me so I will be busy with the movers and unpacking..but still...wish me luck!
Here is a photo of Grayson's new backpack I had made for his new school :)
