Update: Autism Diagnosis

If you have been following Grayson with this blog, on Facebook or just through being our friends and family, you know that Grayson was diagnosed at 15 months old with a Chromosome Deletion of 6q25.2-25.3 which is very rare and much is unknown except it seems to cause global developmental delays along with other various things that actually mirror traits/characteristics of ASD.

Grayson is nonverbal, receives many therapies, has a large team of doctors, and in special education preschool... Today a new diagnosis got added alongside his chromosome deletion.

He was diagnosed today with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is not something that saddens us or changes our lives as he will continue to receive all the same services he has been for the last 3 years.. that diagnosis actually opens up doors to receive even more services to help in his progress. It certainly doesn't put a negative stamp on his prognosis/outcome. Just as every child with a C6 Deletion is different so is every child on the Spectrum. Anything is possible, and our little boy has proved time and time again he can overcome obstacles big and small.. He just does so at his own pace. Even though he cant speak verbally he is extremely smart and is the easiest kiddo to take care of.

We couldn't be more proud of him and more thankful for God choosing us as his parents. He has taught us so much. He brings a happiness to us and all those that know him that is unlike any other. I couldn't ask for a better child.

I just wanted to share this news as there us always such an out pouring of support and love for Grayson and we are so thankful for each of our friends and family for rooting Grayson on every step of the way.

We love you Grayson

Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there!

A special shout of to my hubs! He is such an awesome Daddy to Grayson and I couldn't be more thankful to have him as my partner in this thing called parenthood :p

Grayson made him a few awesome things....2 things he made at school --- a chefs apron (since Zak is a great cook) that says "Super Dad" and a very cute/sweet little poem and then me and Grayson made him a home made book called "Super Dad" ...I had no idea his school had the same "theme" behind it.

The book was custom made, I ordered it off line and was able to have specific things printed in it and then I cut out and glued photos of Grayson and Zak to each page of the book.

The book started as:

And then for each "reason" of being the best super dad I posted photos to go along with it:

I won't post every photo because that would take awhile but I love this little book and I love the things Grayson and his teachers made at school!

I also want to wish a very happy Fathers Day to my amazing Dad as well! He has always been there to support me through and through and I couldn't ask for a better father :)

I hope everyone else is having a great Fathers Day as well!

Super Sick Kiddo :(

Grayson is very sick... almost scary sick.... his fever is spiking very high:

It has even gotten up to 106 :-\ I called the on call doctor at his doctors office and he said as long as it will go down with medicine ..he is okay.. he has been sleeping all day and thrown up a couple of times... Before writing this I had a big damp towel trapped over him and him on my lap to try to cool him off and bring his temp down...he fell asleep so I laid him on the couch :(

I hate when he gets sick because when he does get sick...he gets really sick :( He started to get sick over the weekend and its just been getting worse and worse. A tummy bug that seems to be going around...

No school for him the rest of the week for sure.

Keep my little man in your prayers please!

Happy {Early} Mothers Day to Me!

Grayson (with the help of his teachers of course) made me the cutest little pot for mothers day :)

This is the first "home-made" via school Mothers Day gift and I gotta tell you, I am super excited!

I love it and yes I will be that Mom who keeps it forever and ever :)

They handed them out early as a couple of the other kiddos in his class won't be at school next week and that is fine by me!

PS: Grayson has been doing really well in his new school. His teachers say he is catching on to the routine nicely and taking a little nap at "rest time" which is good. So, so far so good :)

Teacher Appreciation Day!

Today is Teacher Appreciation Day!

Although we have not been at Grayson's school long (at all) I still wanted to make them something special from Grayson to show how much I appreciate them being there for my son.

I went and bough 3 lanterns as he has 1 lead teacher and 2 teacher assistants ...I put 2 photos of Grayson on the sides of each lantern and I put a little red pot that I wrote "Thank You" on with cute doodles with some seeds in the pot. On the top of the lantern I attached a large tag and wrote "Thank you for being the light to help me learn and grow".

I hope they like it as this is my first Teacher Appreciation Gift :)

I also want to say how much I appreciate Grayson's former teachers and therapists because they are the reason he has come so far up to this point and they all became such dear friends to me as well and I do not know what we would have done without each and every one of them!
